The ancient pass village of Splügen in the Hinterrhein Valley on the road to the Splügen Pass (2113 m) is now a popular winter and holiday resort. In the Splügen-Tambo ski area, alpine winter sports enthusiasts, from skiers to snowboarders, get their money's worth. The winter region of Splügen on Piz Tambo has not dedicated itself to mass tourism, but has largely preserved its original character with its rustic huts and traditional flair. Families with children in particular will feel very much at home on a skiing holiday in Splügen-Tambo.
Ski/Snowboard
The Bündner ski area Splügen on Piz Tambo has many namesakes. From the Tambo-Vista, a mountain restaurant, to the Tambo-Tipi-Alpbar, from the Tambo-Jumbo gondola to the Tambo-Lino children's paradise. The skiing, snow and snowboarding fun in the Splügen-Tambo ski area usually takes place far away from the majestic local mountain, but „Tambo“ comes more easily to the lips of the skiing and winter sports enthusiasts than „Tanatzhöhi“. The ski slopes in the Splügen-Tambo ski area are ümanageable and varied and therefore offer suitable conditions for families with children and ski beginners. The Tambo Jumbo transports skiers and snowboarders big and small in a few minutes from Val Rhein to the top station, which sits like a spider in the web of slopes and runs of varying degrees of difficulty. If you are content with the distant view of the 3276 m high namesake Piz Tambo, you can get closer to it on one of the rewarding ski tours and snowshoe hikes on offer.Nordic/Winter hiking
On the extensive network of cross-country trails around the Splügen-Tambo ski area, the focus is on enjoying the landscape. Nordic winter sports enthusiasts enjoy a magnificent view over the Hinterrhein Valley while cross-country skiing and skating on the mountain trails. But also ambitious cross-country skiers and skaters will find a sporting challenge on the difficult cross-country and skating trails (38 km) along the young Rhine, paired with wonderful nature experiences. Hikers, on the other hand, can immerse themselves in the romantic winter landscape of Splügen at the foot of the Piz Tambo on the marked winter hiking trails (37 km). In addition, a natural ice rink is available to winter holidaymakers free of charge. The toboggan run in the ski area in Splügen is also a lot of fun.
